Description
A distinctive cultivar producing large, breathtaking salmon-orange flowers with spicy carnation scent. Long flowering season with heavy flower production. Salmon colored with large orange center and reddish margin, light pink tip, wide petals with long, somewhat elliptical rounded tips and slight twist, medium texture, 3.5 to 4.5 inches. Vigorous plant with heavy branching. Named for Dean Conklin, a plant enthusiast.
Appearance
Salmon colored with large moderate orange center, reddish margin, light pink tip. Wide petals, long, somewhat elliptical, round tip, twisted, slightly overlapping. Medium texture, 3.5 to 4.5 inches.
Bloom
Long flowering season with heavy flower production. Unique inflorescence made up of 8 to 10-inch stems with blossoms at the end. Each blossom sits alone without touching another. Full inflorescences that stand tall off the plant.
Fragrance
Faint spicy carnation scent with sweet hints. Unbelievable scent.
Growth & Foliage
Medium tree. Vigorous plant with good large strong branches and heavy branching.
Cultivation Tips
Slow to root. Must be large to bloom.
Provenance
Released at the 1977 dedication of the Dean Conklin Plumeria Grove in Koko Crater Botanic Garden. Named for Dean Conklin.
