A distinctive cultivar with dark, rich red coloration and small whitish center. Somewhat grainy pigmentation with radiating dark red lines on front. Wide curved petals with rounded tips heavily overlapping. 3.5 inches. Strong spicy fragrance with excellent keeping quality. Heat distorts the petal edges. Petals reflex backwards as bloom matures but edges prevent full dome reflex. Very sparse bloomer, often with years between blooms. Tall. Does not like to be grown in a pot.
