Description

Edi Moragne (#147) was hybridized by William Moragne Sr. from pod parent Daisy Wilcox and pollen parent Scott Pratt, and is named for his granddaughter Edie Cooke Moragne. It may be the same as Moragne KK or Ruby Too and has been mistagged as Cathy Moragne. Flowers are 3.5 to 4 inches, white with a medium gold throat, a golden eye and a pale pink band on the reverse, carried in tightly packed clusters. Petals are lifted and incurved, widely overlapped at the center and becoming more separated toward the rim, wide and rounded with a slight point. Substance is heavy with good keeping quality. Growth habit is dense and rangy with very large, unusual oblanceolate leaves and acuminate tips. It is sensitive to soil compaction and hard to root, so it should be grafted. Scent is strong jasmine in warm weather, shifting toward peachy-jasmine in cooler climates.

Named for the granddaughter of William Moragne Sr. From tightly packed clusters come snowy white and gold plumeria blooms. It’s 3 ½ inches in diameter. Hybridized by William Moragne Sr., it’s named Edie Cooke Moragne, after a granddaughter. Fabulous large cream with a thin pink rim around petal edges. Fragrance is very sweet, keeping quality is good. 3.5 -4” and gorgeous blooms. Texture is heavy and good keeping quality. Should be grafted. Edi on the south coast of Calif is a pretty pale yellow with slight pink, and much heavier texture than Samoan Fluff. Edi has one of my favorite plumeria scents. Huge unusual leaves. Sensitive to soil compaction. Hard to root. Medium yellow with a blush of pink on the edge of the petals, 3” size flower, with a medium texture, petal slightly rounded and overlapping with an eye on the center. Bloom in tight bundle. Great jasmine scents in a warm weather and become peachy jasmine in a cooler climate.
