Anecdotal Notes
Similar but not the same as JL’s Clark. Yellow, pointed, with white margins, slight ruffle. 5-7"+ in a very unusual star shape. Pure white with yellow centre. Very highly perfumed with Gardenia. About 15 yrs ago, a collector received a cutting from Brazilian Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand and later named it "Emperor". Years later, many plumeria growers (including Mr. Vishanu) took cuttings from a young tree located in an Agriculture School in eastern Thailand. Since then it has been in the trade under a new name "Vishanu Gold". It seems to me that the origin of this plumeria is unknown. The original is said to be imported from Latin America countries (possible Brazil)... came to Thailand about 30+ years ago (2019 ref). Well-informed person told us that be called"Emperor". The first started to grow in Chonburi province at a hospital. And then propagated to Kaset Bang Phra (Bang Phra is municipality) and multiply by cuttings, and called "Lueng (Yellow) Bang Phra" but someone called "San Sararom" (nobody knows). Afterward, some collector got it and changed the name for commercial market. His name is Vishanu... and called "Vishanu Gold".
