Description
Golden Rainbow, probably from Brea, Hawaii, produces 4.5-inch flowers with wide, rounded, slightly overlapping petals. The petals are white with a beautiful gold or yellow center and a medium pink band on the edge; the reverse is white with a broad pink band. Texture is medium with acceptable keeping quality; the flowers are too large to use for lei-making but make a great hair flower. The tree grows upright and tall with dense branching but can become leggy and has poor roots. The fragrance is super creamy and sweet, reminiscent of gold if gold had a scent. It is a reliable bloomer and sets seed.
