Anecdotal Notes
Rubra ancestor of many yellow varieties. The old name P. jamesoni was proposed in 1904 in Palermo by the main gardener of the Palermo Botanical Garden, Vincenzo Riccobono. The name became increasingly popular and is still used locally, but is an invalid taxa, since this is just a nice yellow specimen of Plumeria rubra. Latin names can't be used for single genomes, clones or selections; Latin names must be referred to whole taxa, so that a new name for this selection is necessary today, in order to avoid the loss of this special and historically relevant plant, with the increasing globalization and diffusion of many similar plants worldwide. Large beautiful pastel yellow, strong scent is a mixture of orange and vanilla. Similar to Lutea at the same time different. Very very beautiful Plumeria. Long bloom season.
