Wild seedling of Black Red (also called Blood Red or Suva Red). Far superior to parent plant. Produces much bigger flowers in very big bunches. Parent Black Red is not suitable in cooler areas due to lack of vigor even in tropics. Red Velvet, conversely, is very vigorous and grows well in cooler climates.
