Named by Kathy Mras for a local tree with red broom caught high in branches. Very slight scent but neon rainbow that glows when blooming. Easy grower, many branches, abundant flowers of lei quality. Fun, easy tree. Red broom appearance inspired nickname; named for a local 20-foot-old tree where a broom became stuck in branches. Features slight fragrance but nice bright yellow with red edge that glows neon orange at sunset. Tons of flowers, fast rooter and grower. Does not get blacktip. large, heavily veined salmon color. Not the same as C Stars one. Broomstick Rainbow Anaheim originally Oahu in 80s, named by Kathy Mras for a local tree with a red broom high in the branches. Poor graft host. Very slight scent but neon rainbow that glows when blooming. Easy to grow, many branches, oodles of flowers that are lei quality. Fun easy tree. I nicknamed it broomstick rainbow because I asked the Hawaiian lady why there was a broomstick way up in the branches. She laughed and said she wondered where it went. Her kids threw it up there. The tree was 20 feet tall and old. The Hawaiian lady has passed away and new folks cut the two front trees down. It has a slight fragrance but nice bright yellow with red edge that glows neon orange at sunset. Tons of flowers and a fast rooter and grower. Does not get blacktip. She acts like red when trimming dying down to the lower joint but she roots and can bloom in the same season. Not the same as Pu'u Kahea.
