Medium vigorous tree with large, salmon to salmon-orange flowers 3.5-4.5" (up to 4.5"), featuring wide long somewhat elliptical petals with pointed tips, a slight twist, a moderate orange center, reddish margin, light pink tip, and moderate red outer band on the back. Petals are twisted, slightly overlapping, of medium texture. Fragrance is a faint spicy carnation with sweet hints (some descriptions note onion). Long flowering season with heavy flower production; blooms are borne on distinctive long 8-10" inflorescence stems so each blossom sits alone at the tip of its own stem, giving huge inflorescences. Heavy branching, vigorous growth similar to Jeannie Moragne; slow to root. Plant must reach size before blooming. Named for the late Dean Conklin, plant enthusiast and society member, and released at the 1977 dedication of the Dean Conklin Plumeria Grove at Koko Crater Botanic Garden. The original tree, owned by the late Mr. Vartanian, was removed by a subsequent owner.

The scent was just unbelievable - carnation with sweet hints. Elegant long bloomer, large flowers with an excellent fragrance. Not really pink. The slight twist at the tips and the size of the bloom makes this a unique variety. Slow to root. Good large strong branches and vigerous growth habit like Jeannie Moragne. A heavy bloomer all season. The inflorescence is unique - made up with 8 to 10 inch stems with the blossoms at the end of its stem. With these long stems an inflorescence is huge and each blossom sits alone, at the end of its individual steam, without touching another blossom. Has to be large to bloom. Large salmon pink up to 4.5 inches in size, long and wide petals with pointed tips, spicy fragrance. Bloom in a big bundle and easy to bloom. Large full inflos that stand tall off of the plant.
