Wave Rage
Colors
OrangeRedYellowPink
Description
Produces 3" to 4" deep magenta to fuchsia red, star-shaped flowers with spidery, wavy or fluted petals that lightly reflex back. The center is dark red streaked with gold (occasionally orange), and magenta coloring is stronger on the right side of each petal and grainy on the left, creating a two-toned look. Keeping quality is excellent; texture is heavy. A profuse, long-blooming cultivar with generous production on a medium-short, well-branched tree. Cold sensitive and also sensitive to rain, which can cause it to drop all its flowers. Hard to root, prefers dry conditions, and finicky when young with a tendency for black tips and branches that can seal over. Noted as voted overrated in Southern California. Sets seed. Originally found on Oahu near the historical train society by Ewa Beach.
