Description
My Valentine came from the late Jim Clark, given to him by Ampol Orrungroj and possibly originating in India. The flower is an unusual white with distinct to sometimes blotchy red or reddish-pink borders, overlapping petals, and a slight fold. Individual flowers can reach 5-6 inches, among the largest. Inflorescences are large and produce blooms for months, often on previous year's inflos. Petals are thick with a strong pink band on one side, visible from the front and back, an orange-yellow throat, and pink-tinted tight buds. Growth is compact, and the plant overwinters well, retaining leaves longer than most. Flowers do not last long after being picked and are unsuitable for leis. Sets seed.
