Description

Pu'u Kahea #144, meaning 'Hill of Calling or Echoing Hills', is a P. rubra × P. rubra forma acutifolia hybrid producing 4-4.5 inch brilliant yellow flowers with strong red bands on both front and back of petals. Petals are long, narrow, pointed tip, slightly overlapping. Fragrance is tangy lemon that intensifies with age, with a light citrus fragrance and good keeping quality. A very showy flower that can really take the heat and intense sun. The growth habit is more upright with branch divisions of three. Tall grower with very sturdy, thick branches, good for windy areas. Can get powdery mildew and black tip, and does not like temperature changes or full sun with temperatures over 90 degrees. Colors cannot be beat with thick petals and little fade.
