Description

Registered in 2004 by Eileen and Jim Hill. Dark pink, 3" elliptical moderately overlapped pointed petals with ruffled upturned inner edges. Petals blend from dark pink to medium pink with white veins. Pink bands on reverse and large bright yellow center. Lanky growth habit with pubescent stems and fuzzy coating. Easy to root but produces very delicate blooms with almost no keeping quality that fade rapidly in heat. Moves to shade for longer-lasting color. Young leaves are shiny and waxy; mature leaves slightly creased and thin. Dark red center on fuzzy inflorescence stalk. Flowers are smaller with narrower petals in heat. Seedling of 'Mauve', which is a seedling of 'Courtade Pink'.

Appearance

Bloom

Delicate, very rapid fade in sunlight. Almost no keeping quality. Blooms best in shade where color lasts longer.

Fragrance

Sweet floral with background of musk, medium strength.

Growth & Foliage

Lanky growth with pubescent new growth and fuzzy coating on stems. Thin mature leaves with slight crease. Easy to root. Does not produce black tip disease. Flowers smaller with narrower petals in heat. Sets seed.

Cultivation Tips

Best grown in partial shade to preserve bloom color and longevity. Easy to propagate from cuttings. Well-suited to container culture. Splits nicely and does not grow too quickly.

Registered in 2004 by Eileen and Jim Hill. Seedling of 'Mauve' (which is a seedling of 'Courtade Pink'). Named 'Courtade Pink' by Elizabeth Thornton, PSA co-founder.

It was germinated in 1990 and registered in 2004 by Eileen and Jim Hill. 3" dark pink, elliptical moderately overlapped pointed petals. Ruffled upturned inner edges. White veins and blend from dark pink to medium pink. Pink bands on the reverse and a large bright yellow center. Elliptical leaves are medium green with acute tips. Raspberry Sundae is a USA variety, but Thailand has many varieties that look like their American cousins. Recommended for fragrance. Little to no scent. Medium scent. Lanky growth. Easy to root. The fragrance is sweet floral with a background of a musk. Medium strength. Seedling of 'Mauve'. Mauve is a seedling of 'Courtade Pink'. The co-founder of the PSA, Elizabeth Thornton purchased a seedling which she named Courtade Pink. 'Mauve' is E.T.’s seedling. Grows well. Splits nicely and doesn't get too big too fast. Nice furry coating on the stems, pubescent tips. Lanky. Blooms are very delicate. Almost no keeping quality and they fade fast. Moved it to the shade and color lasts longer. No fragrance. No red in RS leaves young leaves are shiny almost waxy looking mature leaves have a slight crease and are thin. Dark red center and fuzzy inflo stalk. Easy to root. Doesn’t BT. Flowers are smaller and petals narrower in heat. Pubescent new growth. Sets seed.
