Description

Tickled Pink, from Coralcoast, is a semi-dwarf that was a 12-brancher as a seedling, named by a lady member of the group. Perfume is mild but flowers are very pretty and grow in dense clusters. Color most commonly presents as red-purple or red-blue-red, and occasionally shows blue-purple or blue tones, especially before sunset; flowers can start pink then fade to blue, grey, or violet. Fragrance recalls berries. The cultivar is a reliable bloomer with excellent branching but is very difficult to root, needing a long callus and root initiation period, and has more often been propagated by graft. A separate note references "Tida doi," meaning "mountain daughter" or Hill Tribe Maiden, referring to young women from the six hill tribes of northern Thailand. Sets seed.
