Description
University of Hawaii Orange (UH Orange) is more orange than similar Ka lei nani variety. Ka lei nani is yellowish orange while UHO is more orange. The leaf shape and petiole are different from Ka lei nani. UoH, Ka lei nani and John John have exact same bloom but are not the same plants with different growth habits. UoH is more compact while Ka lei nani is leggy. The flowers are 3 to 3.5 inches with good keeping quality. In cooler temps, it displays vivid orange and red. Orange cast but by the second day fades to yellow. The plant is slow growing but a very strong grower that is hard to root but can be done. U of H Orange was never officially released by the University of Hawaii.
